North Elmham entertained Hardingham in the first home friendly of the season. Both captains fielded sides in search of experience and both teams played the game in a very friendly spirit.
North Elmham batted first and Phil Blackford apparently led the way for the team, playing onto his stumps in the first over for the first of seven ducks! The Hardingham bowling was superb and they left little room for manouvre as the ball swung freely and caused Elmham lots of problems. Josh Hall held his wicket well as he watched the team fall around him until Ant Keeble came in with Elmham on 17 - 5 and proceeded to hit a quick 40. Once Ant and Josh were beaten, however, the innings was effectively over with North elmham all out for 76.

With a low total to defend, North Elmham took the attack to Hardingham, with Josh Hall swinging the ball into the right hander and picking up a wicket in the first over. Hardingham steadied themselves and scored consistently up to the fifth over, when Josh picked up another 2 wickets. With the visitors on 27 - 3, the match was back on and when Callum Tindall struck with his second ball of the next over, hope spread amongst the team.
Hardingham once again put their heads down and looked set to go the distance, but lost 2 more wickets with the total at 46 and 47 putting the match back in the balance once more.
Unfortunately for Elmham, Hardingham only lost 1 more wicket on their way to the Elmham total and finished on 77 - 7.

Despite the low totals, this was a fascinating game that had suited both captains and the manner in which the game was played left both teams looking forward to the re-match in July.
