North Elmham entertained Old Catton "B" on Saturday with 3 players makng their debuts and one returning to captain the side.
Chris Palmer won the toss and decided to bat first, Richie Futter soon departed but newboy Stephan Malherbe joined Grant King and the pair scored freely putting together a stand of 41 in 7 overs before Malherbe fell for 13.
King continued to score quickly as Chris Palmer played himself in and King was the next to go for a fine 44 from 49 balls faced.
When Palmer was out for 55 the score was 141 for 6 from 32 overs. Ant Keeble joined Matty Bamforth and the pair smashed 48 before Keeble was out for 31 made from 26 balls faced. Number 10 Phil Blackford played the shot of the innings before Bamforth fell in the last over for a watchful and well constucted 38.
For Old Catton, S. Remington was the pick of the bowlers taking 3- 20 from his 9 overs.
Debutant Iain Sinclair and Ant Keeble opened the Elmham attack and Sinclair was unlucky not to take a wicket in his 7 overs, however he did combine with Malherbe and Futter to make the breakthrough when the trio ran out Cook.
A smart piece of stumping by Futter off Keeble got rid of Kinch who looked like he was capable of making inroads into the Elmham total, and Old catton were 23 - 2. Andy Kay replaced Sinclair and soon caused havoc in the Old Catton batting ,ripping out 5 batsman all bowled.
In partnership with Rob Joplin the pair bowled 18 overs conceding 27 runs and took 7 wickets.
Man of the match Kay took 5 - 13 before being forced out of the attack with a shoulder injury.
When Malherbe bowled Remington in the 33rd over Old Catton were all out for 71 to leave Elmham winners by 151 runs.
The new skipper said he was pleased with the performance of the team but we now have to put this level of effort into the game every week.
